The Green Bottle Sliding Scale

IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE QUALITY THERAPY AS EQUITABLE AND ACCESSIBLE AS POSSIBLE, WHTC UTILIZES A SOCIAL-JUSTICE-INFORMED SLIDING SCALE MODEL THAT IS BASED ON EACH PERSON’S INDIVIDUAL ABILITY TO PAY.

When fees are based on personal financial access it helps make treatment accessible to those who may not have access to it otherwise. WHTC is only able to offer a limited number of sliding-scale appointments at this time. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions about affordability, or to make other arrangements.

“The sliding scale is a tool that allows for a product or service to be obtained at multiple price points based on the circumstances of the purchaser. Typically, the scale will be set in a chart and some form of income verification is provided by the purchaser to an authority figure who determines where on the scale the purchaser falls. This method allows folks who would most likely be priced out of something to have the chance to take part in it. It also seeks to address the systemic inequalities of class in our culture.”

— Alexis Cunningfolk, the model’s creator.

For a sliding scale to work it relies on the principles of truthfulness, respect for complexity, and accountability. I do not ask for income verification. I trust clients and students to be honest, as this is an essential element of the therapeutic relationship. Community thrives when accountability is a central value, because that is where trust grows and depth work can be done.

DETERMINING THE RIGHT BOTTLE

If you identify most with the left bottle, then you would pay the full amount of $200. Those people who pay in full make the sliding scale possible, thank you for your solidarity.

If you identify most with the middle bottle, then we can discuss sliding scale options and determine a rate based on the number of sliding scale slots available and affordability.

If you identify most with the right bottle, then you are eligible to make use of the access fund (when funds are available). This fund is very limited and designed to subsidize costs for folks who would not be able to afford this service out of pocket. I also offer free and low-cost community workshops that could be supportive as well.
